Living 'Off-Grid' Urban farming has played a large role in the 'regeneration' of Detroit. In commentary from afar as well as public debate taking place in the city itself, farming is even sometimes referred to as the grand solution to its depopulation. Globally, planners look to Detroit for lessons in urban agriculture. Inevitably however, the situation is not that simple. There is already a diverse range of approaches to urban farming evident, and complex issues challenging its viability.
